Overview

P11 Abyss is a chameleon audio compressor that can go ultra clean competing against the cleanest of mastering compressors or super dirty to compete against the best of the color compressors.

Modern producers, engineers and artists should not be constrained by the need to understand different characteristics offered by the multitude of physical compressor topologies. They should not need to project and translate that information into selecting the right tool for the right purpose.   1. A while back I went on a serious deep dive in trying find my ITB Compressor. To me, the P11 ABYSS is way more! TONE! It has a sound… actually it can have many sounds, shapes and characters. I remember while demoing it, I pulled up my go to compressors and then in P11 ABYSS, I tried to recreate what they gave me. At that time with the P11, I was able to recreate sounds and characteristics that were spot on, and some that were not (I’m sure it was due to my lack of, or not taking enough time). BUT, whatever I wasn’t able to recreate, was quickly made up for in what the P11 ABYSS had to offer! Goodness… O2 is so killing!!! Modes and Saturation!! It’s pretty crazy and I’m still now learning it more and more. Mixing, mastering as well as shaping sounds and tones, I’m a fan!

  2. A chameleon of a compressor and Limiter. Whether you want to quickly dial in a basic compressors of tweak the myriad of extra controls, you’re in for a glorious sound.

  3. This is a very musical and versatile compressor. I’ve used this on vocals, drums, instruments, busses, mix bus, during mastering and even as a parallel compressor. It gives a nice presence to tracks, makes them stand out more and gives you a lot of control over the volume to not be tricked by any volume changes. It brings elements of your mix to the front without being overwhelming or pumping. It gives a very nice and smooth compression.

  5. This is the single greatest piece of gear I’ve ever owned. It’s almost a channel strip with the highly musical EQs and saturation. The knobs and functions within this exemplify both the advantage of range that digital offers (e.g., you can have characteristics of opto, mu, and hard transistor compressors with multiple transistors and mods, all in one box It also exemplifies musicality. I went a long, Long time without reading the manual because you can just listen to what happens when you tweak. It’s so expressive; each parameter dos something real and audible. Truly special.
